I was fortunate to participate in a local event called the “Honey Market,” hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Seoul. The event showcased Slovenian honey products and promoted cultural exchange through beekeeping and sustainable practices. I learned about Slovenia’s long tradition of apiculture and had the chance to speak with representatives about their natural honey products. Here are some photos I took during this unique experience!

I had the opportunity to teach children about how a beehive functions, explaining the roles of worker bees, drones, and the queen, and showed them how bees store honey inside the hive. After learning, the kids had fun decorating the hive with their own drawings, helping them connect creativity with environmental learning.

Several local beekeepers set up a display featuring their personal tools and handmade products. They showcased traditional beekeeping equipment such as smokers, frames, wax sheets, and protective gear, explaining how each item is used in daily hive management. The exhibit gave visitors a closer look at the craftsmanship and care involved in sustainable beekeeping.

Local beekeepers set up a booth selling refreshing drinks made with their own honey. Each beverage was naturally sweetened using raw honey harvested from their hives, highlighting the flavor differences between floral sources. They explained how using local honey not only supports bee health but also promotes sustainable and eco-friendly food practices.

This local farmer displayed and sold freshly harvested organic vegetables grown using eco-friendly methods. His stall featured seasonal produce like pumpkins, eggplants, and green peppers, all cultivated without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. He also shared insights about sustainable farming practices and how local agriculture supports healthy ecosystems and communities.

These local beekeepers showcased and sold their freshly harvested honey, offering different varieties based on the flowers their bees visited. Each jar highlighted unique flavors and colors, showing how local environments influence honey quality. Visitors could also sample the honey and learn about sustainable beekeeping practices directly from the producers.

I was thrilled to sell my homemade honey, Pure Drizzle, during our school carnival. The booth drew many visitors who were curious about local beekeeping and excited to try the honey. It turned out to be a huge success, many jars sold out quickly, and I received great feedback about the flavor and packaging. It was rewarding to see people enjoy something I produced through my own beekeeping work.
